Information on How to Register!
DATES
June through August, 2011
The number of team matches will be based on the actual number of teams that register for a level. Based on court availability, matches will be played on Friday evening at the Plaza Tennis Center. When the Plaza Tennis Center is not available, play will be at available Clubs in the area.
DEADLINES
Captains must use the USTA TennisLink to register their team and team players. The process is as follows:
1. The Captain must register their team on TennisLink and pay the $25 team fee with their credit card by Friday, May 6.
2. On Saturday, May 7, 2011, the Captain may obtain their official TennisLink team number from the TennisLink Coordinator and provide that team number to their team members. Then each team member, including the Captain, must register on TennisLink and pay the player fee of $23 ($20 Fee + $3 TennisLink Fee) with their credit card by Tuesday, May 31, 2011.
Note that players may be added to a team’s roster through TennisLink until two weeks before the final regularly scheduled match.
USTA MEMBERSHIP
All players participating in the HOA Mixed Doubles League must be current members of the USTA and registered on TennisLink. The membership must not expire before August 31, 2011.
AGE
The league is open to players 18 years of age or older.
NTRP RATING
Dynamic NTRP is an enhanced tennis rating system that generates player ratings after each match is played during the course of a season. Current Year End Ratings for all Missouri Valley Section players are available on TennisLink. Simply click on "Find A Rating" on the right hand side of the page.
Players may play in more than one NTRP level during the same season (i.e., at the level at which players are rated and one level above. The NTRP difference between members of an individual doubles pair may not exceed 1.0.
SELF-RATED PLAYERS
Any player without a valid computer rating may "self-rate" on TennisLink. TennisLink will then a) prompt the player to answer questions regarding their tennis history and b) then be assigned a rating based on the answers provided on the Questionnaire. If a player does not agree with the rating assigned by TennisLink, he/she may file an appeal directly after completing the questionnaire. The Self Rate Appeal link is available on the rating assigned paged. The Appeal shall be submitted electronically.
FORMAT
All levels of play will play 3 doubles matches in each team match. Remember that all players must play a minimum of two matches during the season, one match may be a default awarded to the player, to participate in the District playoffs and Sectional Championships. A player must play in a minimum of 3 matches, no defaults counting, to participate in the National championships.
Each team should consist of a least six (6) players but not more than fourteen players.
Each match has a two-hour time limit, with a ten-minute warm-up. The procedures for timed matches shall be the same as the 2011 Adult Winter Season – best 2 out of 3 sets with a Match Tiebreak (first team to 10) for the third set. Players should use the Coman format for tiebreaks.
COURT COST
Court costs will be paid directly by Heart of America District. The Team listed first on the schedule for each date will provide the Balls.
